Laboratory tests are an important tool to aid the physicians in diagnosing and monitoring medical conditions. The RPMH Laboratory uses the latest technology designed to minimize patient discomfort while producing accurate and dependable results.

Food and beverages can alter some laboratory tests. Many times the best comparison of certain test results can be made while the patient is fasting. For some tests, the patient is required to fast for eight to 12 hours.

Consult your physician when receiving laboratory orders to verify if you need to be fasting and if any medications will interfere with the test results.

HIPAA Regulations

Results should be discussed with your physician after which, results can be obtained from the Health Information Management Department after proper identification and written authorization is obtained. The results may not be distributed by the Laboratory.
